Reactions as Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge fails to attend the burial of world record holder Kelvin Kiptum.
This was afte Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge was not spotted at the send-off of the late Kelvin Kiptum.
Following Kiptum’s untimely demise, Kipchoge has become the target of a viral campaign on the Kenyan internet.
Fans contended that Kipchoge never offered congratulations to Kiptum when the latter shattered his own record in October of last year, clocking a time of 2:00:35 in the Chicago Marathon.
Despite persistent encouragement from Kenyan internet users, Kipchoge’s social media accounts were silent in the face of Kiptum’s astonishing achievement.
He however conveyed his condolence message to the family and kin of Kiptum, on the day perished in a nasty accident.

Kenyans expressed dismay as Kipchoge was not spotted anywhere during the funeral service of Kelvin Kiptum.
Kiptum had only run three marathons, but each was among the fastest seven times ever recorded.
He set the world record at the Chicago Marathon in October in two hours and 35 seconds, eclipsing the 2:01:09 run by compatriot Eliud Kipchoge in 2022.
Kiptum had hoped to break two hours in Rotterdam in April and was also expected to make his Olympic debut in Paris this year in what could have been his first head-to-head match-up with Kipchoge.
