According to a police report, Dennis Imai visited JJ Wines and Spirits at around 6 pm on Sunday when Jackline Jemeli immediately snatched his phone for the previous beer bill.
“The said police officer left the beer den only to re-emerge 30 minutes later in full uniform and armed with a rifle in the company of unknown bodaboda rider,” read the report in part.

Imai is said to have demanded to have his phone back and when the attendant was not complying he opened one round of fire before the boda-boda rider whisked him away.
Efforts by officers who visited the scene to recover the spent cartridge turned futile as they suspected the police officer took it before fleeing.
However, no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, police have launched a further probe into the incident.
