Manyatta Member of Parliament (MP) Gitonga Mukunji apologised to President William Ruto for voting ‘no’ on the Finance Bill 2024.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 7, in Embu County, the MP asked the Head of State for forgiveness and promised to support and walk with him.
“I want to ask for your forgiveness because I’m one of your mentees. You have put me on the leadership path and your Excellency you never told me when you make a mistake you are kept out of the eldership,” remarked Gitonga.

President Ruto shook his hand after the apology and said, “Huyu ni kijana mzuri.”
The Legislator is among the three UDA MPs who voted no for the Finance Bill which has already been withdrawn due to nationwide protests.
This comes barely two months after the MP defended his move to vote no for the Finance Bill which was very unpopular with Kenyans.
Mukunji maintained that being a member of the UDA party, he had the obligation of telling President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua the truth.
