The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) now says it will settle new raised salaries to all teachers by August 30.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced that teachers will receive their newly raised salaries by August 30, 2024.
Commission Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia stated that the payment will be backdated to July after Govt released 13 billion Shillings for phase two of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
According to Nancy Macharia, this is part of the second phase of the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with teachers’ unions.
The salary adjustments will be reflected in the August payslips, with arrears backdated to July 1, 2024.

Teachers can expect an increase in their basic pay, along with various allowances such as commuter, house, leave, and hardship allowances.
This increment is a significant boost for over 370,000 teachers across Kenya.
The second phase of the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with teachers’ unions in Kenya was implemented in July 1, 2024.

This phase included salary increments and other benefits for teachers, which was scheduled to reflect in their August payslips along with arrears backdated to July 1, 2024.
The development came even as Teachers who are members of the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers began picketing at their various offices across the country.
Union Secretary General Akello Misori indicated that the National Governing Council approved the industrial action after the government failed to address members’ grievances by the expiry of the Strike Notice.
However, the Kenya National Union of Teachers has called off the planned strikes ahead of schools’ re-opening.
