Bobi Wine has been shot and injured, his party the National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced.
The opposition leader was reportedly shot in the leg by security forces in Bulindo, Kira in Wakiso district.
A video posted by the party shows Bobi Wine being helped up into a waiting Toyota Harrier by his team.
The video then pans to a police pick up truck number UP 5752, with two police officers riding in the trunk.
The person on the camera points at one of the officers who allegedly opened fire.
The NUP described this an attempt on their leader’s life.
” Security operatives have made an attempt on the life of President @HEBobiwine. He was shot in the leg and seriously injured in Bulindo, Wakiso District,” the video is captioned.

Street confrontations between Wine and the police have frequently descended into violence, but this is the first time he has been wounded in such a way.
There was no immediate comment from the police and other authorities.
Wine ran for president in 2021, losing to President Yoweri Museveni in an election he claimed was rigged against him. Museveni has held power since 1986.
