Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan has been shortlisted for an interview for the position of Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
In a notice on Tuesday, October 8, by the Public Service Commission (PSC), Hassan was shortlisted alongside seven other candidates.
According to PSC, the selection panel received 22 applications for the position of the chairperson of IPOA and 304 applications for members of IPOA.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 8, 9, and 10 of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act, 2011, the selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as Chairperson and Members of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority invited applications from persons wishing to be considered for appointment on 13th September 2024. A total of 22 and 304 applications for the Chairperson and Members, respectively, were received at the close of the advertisement on 27th September.
“After considering the applications, the Selection Panel shortlisted eight candidates for the position of Chairperson and 37 candidates for the position of Member to appear for interviews,” read part of the notice by PSC.

Other candidates who were shortlisted for the IPOA Chairperson position include former IEBC Commissioner Thomas Letangule, Annah Konuche (Nandi), Patrick Blasius Owiny (Siaya), Mercy Wambui Kamau (Nakuru), Wayong’o Cyril Simiyu (Bungoma), Juliet Wanjiku Muremi (Kiambu) and Richard Barno (Uasin Gishu).
Hassan will face the interview panel on Wednesday, October 23, at 12:00 p.m.
PSC asked members of the public with any credible information of interest regarding any of the shortlisted candidates to submit it through a sworn affidavit to the PSC Chairperson before October 16.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates through sworn affidavits to the Chairperson via email ipoa2024@publicservice.go.ke or through the Office of the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission situated on 4th floor Commission House, off Harambe Avenue, Nairobi on or before 16 October 2024,” PSC stated.
