DCI detectives arrest KDF officer over the brutal murder of UoN student Mercy Kwamboka.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier in connection with the brutal murder of a female student from the University of Nairobi.
According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, Joseph Ngera Kamau aged 26, was traced to his hideout in Komarock Estate, Nairobi by DCI officers from who followed a forensic trail to zero in on him.
The body of the deceased, Mercy Rufansi Kwamboka; who had been reported missing from her parents’ home was found dumped in a thicket in Mwiki, Kasarani.

The deceased was found half-naked with various visible injuries including acid burns on her body.
“The deceased Mercy Rufansi (26 yrs) was reported missing from her parent’s home in Pipeline, Embakasi at midnight of 28th September 2024 and her search ensued only for her half naked body to be discovered lying lifeless with bruises on her thighs, buttocks and left ankle within infinity area in the evening.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect picked the deceased from Embakasi on the fateful night using his vehicle under the registration number KDA 796L which is being detained at the station yard.
“The suspect is currently undergoing statement recording and interrogation at DCI Kasarani to establish the motive of the crime, cause of death and probable accomplices,” said the DCI.
