Police in Nairobi’s Kilimani area on Sunday morning shot dead two suspected robbers and recovered a handgun, machete, mobile phones and a motorcycle.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officers were on patrol in the area when they encountered the deceased duo.
The police retaliated after the duo prompted them with a shootout.
“The officers who were on patrol duties along Tigoni road near Naivas Supermarket are reported to have bumped into the gang of three as they were right in the act leading to a shoot out that left two gang members permanently immobilized as one of their members escaped with gunshot wounds,” DCI said.
One of their accomplices managed to escape the scene.

The police also managed to locate two of the robbers’ victims who had been robbed before the shootout.
The detectives documented the scene as they embarked on a thorough search for the suspect who escaped.
The police, who have since intensified patrols in the Kilimani sub-county, called on the citizenry there to continue collaborating with them in efforts to curb insecurity.
