Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka openly expressed discontent at President Ruto’s Jamhuri Day speech as he termed the remarks as misleading.
In a scathing jibe at the President, Kalonzo faulted Ruto for allegedly focusing on the Kenya Kwanza Government’s achievements, instead of Kenyans’ concerns during his speech.
“It is highly regrettable that instead of the solemn and reflective national address it is supposed to be, the 61st Jamhuri Day message today was a self-congratulatory ode of pipe dreams and misinformation by the president,” Kalonzo said on Thursday evening.
The former Vice President further claimed that Ruto’s speech was rigged with misinformation saying, “It did not reflect the vision of our forebearers who sacrificed to free us from the punishing and dehumanising yoke of colonialism.”
Kalonzo further alluded to the notion that the Kenya Kwanza Government tended to reward those who showed loyalty to the regime.
The Wiper Party leader is no stranger to calling Ruto out and has been arguably the fiercest critic of the Head of State. Only recently, Ruto and Kalonzo traded subtle jibes which mainly revolved around the government’s upcoming mass vaccination of livestock across the country.
While Kalonzo accused the President of planning to use dangerous vaccines from the United States, Ruto, while speaking at the Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir County, dismissed his political adversary’s claims as false.

Besides the traditional presidential appreciation of Kenya’s history and the efforts the founding fathers put to ensure Kenya attained independence, President Ruto also heavily discussed some of his government’s initiatives.
The President discussed food security in the country, the agroindustrial sector, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, and the contentious issue of Taifa Care among others.
Ruto also subtly hit out at his critics by urging them to criticise the government based on facts, rather than fake news.
“We are at the stage in social development when digital technologies have immense capacity to amplify disinformation, magnify fake news and distort facts beyond all recognition,” he said.
“If we give in to these emerging negative trends, we shall pay with our freedom, democracy and development.”
