NPS issues statement over recruitment of police constables

The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a warning to the public about a fake advertisement circulating online regarding the recruitment of police constables
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a warning to the public about a fake advertisement circulating online regarding the recruitment of police constables.
In an update on Wednesday, January 29, the NPS labeled the poster as fake, urging Kenyans to disregard its contents.
The counterfeit advertisement, which falsely claims that the recruitment exercise is set to take place on February 3, 2025, lists purported requirements, recruitment centers, and application procedures for police constable candidates.
The misleading document also included fake contact details and government logos in an attempt to appear legitimate.
The National Police Service (NPS) is set to undertake the recruitment of cadet officers this year.
In a recent interview, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo revealed that the exercise would be carried out in the second half of 2025.

Omollo said the recruitment would be an implementation of one of the recommendations by the Chief Justice Emeritus David Maraga-led National Taskforce on Police Reforms.
The PS stated that the recruitment had been paused due to financial constraints.
“We are in the process of bringing in reforms into our police service, and key among them is the reintroduction of the hiring of cadet officers so that not everybody who joins the rank and file of the national police must join at the same level,” the PS said.
