UDA MP heckled in Embu after attacking CS Muturi for criticising government

A section of Embu residents heckled Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek when he launched an onslaught on Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi over the latter’s recent criticism of the government.

Kiborek had joined other Kenya Kwanza leaders in Runyenjes for the Embu County Boda Boda Summit, which saw the attendance of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

The first-timer in the National Assembly accused Muturi of hypocrisy by coming out with an unequivocal broadside to the government over the recent string of abductions.

Kiborek argued that the CS was mum when such atrocities were committed years back when he was the speaker of the 11th and 12th parliaments.

According to the legislator, Muturi therefore did not have any moral standing to lament about the current abductions and largely the state of security in the country.

“I heard the former Speaker of the National Assembly asking that there should be a commission of inquiry over the recent abductions; When extrajudicial killings happened in 10 years when he was speaker, no day did he raise it in parliament that we wanted to address the matter. We want to tell him from Embu that such atrocities anywhere is unfair everywhere,” said Kiborek.

The MP’s sentiments against Muturi were met with disapproval from the audience which butted in his speech with noise.

He seemed to digress, talking about the unity of the country, perhaps to appease the withdrawn audience.

Muturi has not been mincing his words as he calls the state to account for the forcible disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Kenyans.

Speaking in Nairobi on Friday, January 31, the CS heavily criticised the state law security agents for laxity and complacency.

He was speaking about the latest case of abduction which ended in two abductees being discovered dead.

Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau’s bodies were discovered at the City Mortuary after weeks of going missing; the duo was part of a quartet of men abducted in Mlolongo, Machakos county, in December last year.
