Speaking in Wamunyoro, where he was hosted by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua alongside other Opposition leaders, Matiang’i said it is when the people of Kenya will know how work is done.
He said a lot of cleaning is needed in the country to have people trust the government again.
“You give us this mandate, you will see how work is done. We need to clean our country, restore faith in government so that people can trust government again,” Matiang’i said.
He urged Kenyans not to give up yet because this is just a temporary face the country is going through.
The former CS said that despite the many challenges Kenya has faced before, it has always emerged triumphant.
He called for the unity of the country, insisting that together, solutions to what ails the country will be found.

“Let’s not lose hope in our country, and what we are going through is just a momentary situation, and let us not be tempted to turn against each other. We have had some challenges before, but we always rise again,” he said.
“This country is built on resilience. Don’t lose hope, let’s unite, and we will cross that bridge and fix our challenges. We fix our education, our healthcare. We will find solutions to our challenges together,” Matiang’i said.
It is the first public gathering he has attended alongside other opposition leaders.
The former CS is eyeing the country’s top seat in 2027 and has teamed up with the other opposition leaders in a bid to forge a united front ahead of the polls that analysts believe will be hotly contested.
The other leaders who visited Wamunyoro on Saturday are Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, PLP’s Martha Karua, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa and former Cabinet Secretaries Justin Muturi and Mithika Linturi.
