Samboja, who presided over Taita Taveta between 2017 and 2022, was routed in the 2022 general election in which he sought to defend his seat.
The president appointed him to the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya.
In a gazette notice published on Friday, May 23, the president appointed Samboja to be the agency’s non-executive board chairman for three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Granton Samboja to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 23rd May, 2025,” the notice read.
Elsewhere, the president appointed retired Lieutenant General Adan Mulata to be the non-executive chairperson of the National Youth Service Council for three years.
The president also appointed John Mwangi Karondo as a member of the State Corporations Advisory Committee for three years.

The appointments came exactly a week after Ruto sanctioned other ones.
On May 17, the president made three appointments to various posts.
He nominated Professor Lawrence Gumbe as the non-executive chairperson of the Board of Nuclear Power and Energy Agency.
Gumbe will be in that post for four years.
The president also appointed Sylvanus Maritim to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Industrial Estates for a period of three years.
Ruto revoked the appointment of Lily Ng’ok to entrust Maritim with the post.
Ng’ok was instead transferred to the post Maritim held.
She will be the non-executive chairperson of the Board of the Information and Communications Technology Authority for a period of three years.
