Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has launched a scathing attack on Farouk Kibet, accusing him of undermining elected leaders from the Western Region.

In a statement on Sunday, May 25, the lawmaker took issue with Kibet’s frequent appearances at harambees in the region despite lacking a public portfolio.

Amisi criticized the role Kibet is playing in regional functions, saying it reflects the sorry state of leadership in the Western Region.

“A private PA without a public portfolio is the chief guest at all Western Region harambees. Leaving our very own Mudavadi, Oparanya, and Wetang’ula on international observer missions,” he said.

Amisi lamented that elected leaders from the region, including senators and governors, had been sidelined, allegedly because Kibet had access to more financial resources.

“Senators and Governors have been reduced to escorts and MPs, eyewitnesses, ostensibly because the PA carries more money, stolen or otherwise.

“This reflects the sorry state of the Western Region; desperate, disenfranchised, voiceless, and penniless,” he added.

Amisi warned that while the region may appear to benefit from handouts now, the electorate would express their dissatisfaction at the ballot.

“Western is going to chew the money mercilessly, but when the time to vote comes, only black smoke will be seen billowing towards Sugoi,” he concluded.

This comes a week after Amisi advised politicians eyeing the presidency in the 2027 General Election to go beyond slogans and present transformative ideas.

In a statement on Sunday, May 18, Amisi highlighted the dissatisfaction among Kenyans with the current leadership, adding that candidates must now rise to the occasion with tangible solutions.

The legislator explained that the ideas will determine how Kenyans will vote in the upcoming elections.

“To all 2027 presidential candidates, as Kenyans sing Ruto Must Go, you must, in the meantime, demonstrate how different and revolutionary ideas you possess to lift Kenya from the sinking ship to the promised land.

“That will determine the choice that Kenyans will unanimously endorse against all other potential leaders,” he stated.
