Raila Addresses Kalonzo’s Demands to Rejoin Azimio
Raila addresses Kalonzo’s demands to rejoin the Azimio after cutting ties and announcing his presidential bid.
Azimio presidential candidate has responded to speculations about Kalonzo’s demands to rejoin the coalition.
Through his presidential campaign secretariat spokesman, Makau Mutua, Kalonzo has not tabled any demands for ministerial positions since leaving the coalition.
However, Makua said the Wiper leader was right to make demands before rejoining the Azimio One Kenya coalition party.
Mutua gave the details while speaking during an interview on K24 TV on Monday night, May 24.

He maintained that the Azimio agreement was not being revisited in order to include Kalonzo in the power-sharing formula, claiming that any changes to the deed of the agreement must be approved by the Azimio Council.
“The Azimio deed of agreement was agreed and signed upon by 26 parties that belong to it. That agreement is not open for negotiations at a particular moment.
“There are avenues of negotiating any changes to the agreement and must be processed through the council of the party. As far as I know, Wiper has not come to the council to petition any changes,” he stated.
There has been reports that the Wiper was demanding four ministerial slots; the energy, health, tourism, and the water dockets.
Mutua did acknowledge that Kalonzo has a huge following in the country and would be listened to if his team tabled a proposal to the council.
“Politics is about negotiations, bargaining, and what you can get. It is not about getting things on a silver platter. Kalonzo is a senior member of this society and an experienced politician, he commands a large following in some parts of the country.
“Obviously, he thinks that he deserves to be considered and we agree. We will have to consider him. When unveiling the Azimio running mate, we offered Kalonzo the position of Chief Minister,” Mutua explained.
