Police in Mbooni East, Makueni County, have launched investigations into the suspected killing of an 11-year-old boy who was found dead in a lodging facility in Mbumbuni town.
According to preliminary reports, a middle-aged woman booked a room on Saturday night accompanied by her three children.
Police suspect the boy was later killed by strangulation under unclear circumstances.

Mbooni East police commander Ephraim Karani said the child was found dead in the room on Sunday morning, while the mother was missing.
The other two children were still in the room, police said.
Officers have launched a manhunt for the suspect as investigations continue to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident.
