Shock as mother poisons three children, dies by suicide in Machakos

A village in Nguluni Koma area in Matungulu subcounty is in grief after a mother is reported to have taken her own life after allegedly poisoning her three children.

Matungulu OCPD Mukuru Mutune confirmed the incident saying that the children aged 5, 7 and 11, are currently receiving medical attention at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital as officers commence a probe on the incident.

According to reports, the three had reported to their grandfather that they were handed a concoction to drink by their mother before taking her life.

It was during the narration when they started getting feeble, prompting a rush to the hospital.

The youngest child is said to have arrived at the medical facility in critical condition but has been stabilised.

The deceased was widowed two months ago after her husband allegedly died by suicide.

Her body has been taken to Kangundo hospital mortuary for preservation.
