Broad-based gov't has secured economic stability; Oburu Oginga
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga, has defended the party’s partnership with the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying the collaboration has delivered tangible economic and political gains for the party’s supporters and the country at large.
Speaking during a stakeholder meeting in Nyakach on Friday, the veteran politician said ODM’s decision to work with the broad-based government had enabled the party to influence key national decisions from within government structures.
“By being inside the room, we have secured economic stability with a projected 5.3 per cent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, ensured the fair distribution of the Ksh.5 trillion development budget, and ended the exclusion of our people from national appointments,” Oburu stated.
The meeting, which brought together party stakeholders, focused on charting a unified roadmap for ODM ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Oburu urged party members to remain united and support decisions made by the party leadership, referencing the dissent between Linda Mwananchi and Linda Ground.
“We are calling on all members to speak with one voice and respect the strategic decisions of the party hierarchy as we continue to protect our legacy of social justice and devolution,” he stated.

The ODM leader also revealed that the party was intensifying grassroots engagement by empowering local leaders and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to strengthen communication between the leadership and wananchi.
According to Oburu, the strategy is aimed at enhancing direct two-way communication with the public while solidifying support at the grassroots level.
At the same time, Oburu announced that ODM had launched an aggressive membership recruitment campaign targeting young people and women through digital registration platforms.
“We are utilising digital portals to register more youth and women to ensure we have the numbers and the energy required for a decisive 2027,” he noted.
He maintained that ODM’s cooperation with the ruling administration was intended to safeguard the interests of its supporters and ensure inclusivity in national governance.
“We are moving forward, not just as participants, but as the guardians of the people’s interests,” he added.
