Politician under investigation for blocking President Ruto’s convoy in Kajiado
Police are probing into a politician from Kajiado North for allegedly sponsoring a group of people to block President William Ruto’s convoy in Kajiado on Sunday, June 14.
On the day, police arrested 45 people accused of being used to cause the scene in Nkarusa, Kajiado West, this weekend.
President Ruto was in Kajiado West on Sunday to lead a fundraiser for the construction of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Nkarusa Church’s headquarters.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the individuals were ferried to the area by bus and matatu ahead of a public event attended by the President.
Upon arrival, the group allegedly blocked the road, disrupting President Ruto’s convoy. This occurred as he was leaving after attending the fundraiser.
Authorities allege that the suspects were chanting “Wantam” slogans at the venue before police officers moved in to disperse the gathering. The group was later arrested as they prepared to leave the area.
