A journalist claims four Chelsea players unhappy with Thomas Tuchel
Four Chelsea players have been frustrated with game time under Tuchel according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law.
There is no enough room for so many attackers in Tuchel’s system and the club will look to offload some of their current attackers.
Tuchel is struggling to keep his present forwards happy with their playing time, so trimming the team before bringing in more players makes sense.
Tuchel’s 3-4-3 system, which only allows three attackers on the pitch, makes things much more difficult for them.
Seven Chelsea players, including Lukaku, are vying for just three starting berths in each match, with four of them inevitably missing out.
Chelsea will look to offload some of their current attackers if they are to sign another attacking player such as Ousmane Dembele.
Mason Mount is the only one of these players with double-digit goal contributions in the league, with Reece James (nine) right behind him.
Some Blues fans, unsurprisingly, see Dembele’s situation at Barcelona as an opportunity for the London club to add another excellent winger to their lineup.
On the other hand, believes a January deal is unlikely because Chelsea will want to sell one of its attackers before bringing in another.
“If they’re going to sign Dembele, they’re going to have to start being sure about players whom they might be able to shift out,” he told the London is Blue podcast.
“They’ve already got too many players for those wide positions.
“Callum [Hudson-Odoi] was getting frustrated at one stage that he was spending a lot of time on the bench.
“[Hakim] Ziyech, up until recently, was frustrated that he was spending a lot of time on the bench.
“You’ve got obviously [Timo] Werner, who I think is unhappy and will look to leave in the summer.
“[Christian] Pulisic, who has come out with quotes during [international] duty, which makes it sound like he’s a little bit unhappy.
“You’ve still got Havertz, who definitely won’t go anywhere. [They’re] still trying to work out where he fits in.”
