Amos Kimunya Explains Why Jubilee Aspirants in Mt Kenya Region Are Avoiding Raila’s Photos in Posters.
Amos Kimunya, a Kipipiri Member of Parliament, has revealed why Jubilee hopefuls in the Mount Kenya region have not included Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s images in their campaign posters.
Speaking to the media in Kiambu on Tuesday, May 3, Kimunya said that the politicians were simply acting out of fear of Odinga’s unpopularity.
“It is a misconception part of which is because people do not quite appreciate the popularity of Raila in Mt Kenya. Granted he doesn’t have 100 per cent but he does not have zero, it could be 50 per cent but in the next two months it could increase,” he added.
He attributed the perceived unpopularity to regional preconceptions about the ODM leader.
He did add, though, that top officials were attempting to change the public’s opinion of the president ahead of the August 9 election.

The Majority Leader in the National assembly told voters from the region to be alive to the fact that their choice of the next president would affect the Mt Kenya region and the country as a whole.
He advised the residents to place their bets on a leader who would improve their economy in the region.
“Mt Kenya is so important a region economically and we are not going to deliver that economy to somebody whose tool in trade is ripping off everywhere he goes.
“Our region must know that it is their time to defend themselves and without one of their own in State House, we need one we can trust and the only safe hands we have is Baba the fifth,” Kimunya added.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who openly admitted to playing a role in creating a negative perception about Odinga in the region has publicly endorsed Mr. Odinga to succeed him in the August elections.
