Arsenal bosses working on two signings before transfer deadline

Arsenal bosses working on two signings before the transfer deadline as are still hopeful of bringing in new faces despite the Dusan Vlahovic saga.

According to Express Sport, Arsenal are still hopeful of signing New England Revolution goalie Matt Turner and a new central midfielder before the January transfer deadline.

The Gunners have had a tough winter window so far after failing to persuade the agents of Juventus-bound Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic that the Emirates Stadium was the appropriate destination for the prolific Serbian striker to step up his game.

Although little movement has been made since last week’s opening offer, Express Sport understands that USMNT goalkeeper Turner remains a target for Arsenal.

The plan is to bring in the 27-year-old as a competition and backup to No. 1 Aaron Ramsdale.

However, a new goalkeeper isn’t a priority for Arsenal, since a new center midfielder is currently at the top of the club’s want list.

A loan deal for Arthur Melo has been discussed extensively, but Juventus has refused to budge from their stance that a replacement must be signed first.

The Gunners are said to have a few other targets in mind, but will wait for a final response from Juventus before moving forward.

Douglas Luis of Aston Villa is one player the club likes, while Ruben Neves of Wolves was the subject of talks last summer.

Following Edu’s meeting with Youri Tielemans at London Colney, Youri Tielemans has a following in north London.

Bruno Guimaraes, the Lyon midfielder, is still highly respected by Edu and Arteta, but it now appears like Newcastle will win the race for his services.

Arsenal bosses had planned to recruit a striker this month, but Vlahovic’s rejection has prompted them to rethink their plans.

They’ve been offered Luka Jovic on loan, but the Real Madrid striker would only be of interest if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left.

As the team prepares to make a blockbuster signing in attack this summer, Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Lille’s Jonathan David are three primary targets on their shortlist.
