Arsenal offers Bukayo Saka a new long-term deal to fend off interest from EPL rivals
Arsenal offers Bukayo Saka a new long-term deal to fend off interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.
Bukayo Saka has been offered a new, long-term deal by Arsenal, which would make him one of the team’s best-paid players.
The international player for England has contracts that expire in less than two years, and negotiations to extend them are now underway.
Following increased interest from rival clubs, particularly Manchester City, Arsenal have been forced to quicken contract negotiations to offer Bukayo Saka new contract.
And it is said that the Gunners have now formally offered Saka a contract extension that is at least twice as lucrative as his current £70,000 per week deal.
As it stands there is no agreement, and it remains to be seen how the Saka formally responds to the offer.
But there is confidence at the Emirates that a deal can be struck to secure Saka’s future and lock in his £100million transfer value.
Securing Saka to a contract extension will come as a major boost to the Gunners amid growing concern behind the scenes over the 20-year-old’s long-term future.
Manchester City view Saka as their dream replacement for Raheem Sterling – who has left for Chelsea.
Saka has ambitions to play in the Champions League and Arsenal’s failure to finish in the top four last season has complicated Gunner’s attempts to agree on a new deal with their academy graduate.
But the signings of Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Fabio Viera should see Arsenal become serious contenders to qualify for the Champions League during the forthcoming season.
However, it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to convince Saka that he can fulfill his goals at Arsenal.
