Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s love affair with Arsenal is ended now that he has joined Barcelona, but he only used one emoji to bid the club farewell.
The deal of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal to Barcelona was completed in the last hours of Deadline Day, putting an end to his stay at the Emirates.
Arsenal has issued a statement confirming that the two had parted ways amicably, and thanking the striker for his contributions to the club.
Aubameyang arrived at Arsenal in 2018, but after a prolific start at the Gunners, his form depleted shortly after Mikel Arteta took charge and following a recent fall-out between the pair. it was made clear that a move was in the best interest of all parties.
In response to Arsenal’s sending-off of Aubameyang, the striker responded on Twitter with only one emoji – a heart – dividing supporters.
Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for Arsenal and was revered by the fans until Arteta exiled him from the squad and stripped him of his leadership due to his recent actions.
It was previously assumed that Aubameyang’s problem was with Arteta, but it appears that the fallout is far wider, as the Gabon international used only one emoji to bid Arsenal fans farewell.
One user responded: “Close the door on your way out, sunshine,” while another said: “What a downgrade, you’re finished.”
But it appears that some fans are sad to see him go, which has sparked a divided debate amongst the Arsenal fans on social media, with one fan saying: “Thanks so much for the memories Auba, love you so much.”
Another was also sad to see the star go, as they added: “Thank you for single-handedly winning us the FA Cup, scoring a fair few goals against Spurs, and for carrying the team through some difficult moments.” Sad how things ended, but you have been brilliant for us.”
One user was eager to get to the bottom of the disciplinary issue behind the scenes: “Can you tell us all that REALLY happened with the whole disciplinary thing?”
