Babu Owino opens up on hate in ODM and relationship with Raila
Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino laments over lack of love in ODM party as he addresses his relationship with Raila Odinga.
Speaking on during an interview with Radio 47 on on Thursday, March 7, Babu claimed that the animosity from some party members was politically orchestrated.
The Embakasi East MP attributes the hate to his strong stance in demanding backing for a party position in the National Assembly.
However, Babu Owino made it clear that his relationship with party leader Raila Odinga was intact in spite of the animosity in ODM party.
Babu Owina stated the in-party rivalry would not bar him from delivering for his people, insisting that he would continue looking at the bigger picture.
“I know very well I am not in love with the party, but that does not stop me from loving the party leader. I am looking at the bigger picture,” Babu stated.
“I told myself that I love my leader, let me just love him the way he is. Sometimes I can not be loved, something which is okay, and that is God’s will,” he added.
While stating the reason for not going public over such concerns, the lawmaker claimed that making such things public could prompt an immediate ouster from the party.

“Since I am not loved at the party, I cannot go into the public and start saying I am not loved, yet people are indeed seeing it.”
The lawmaker had previously voiced his dissatisfaction with the party in public; in September 2022, Babu Owino criticized betrayal within the ODM party.
The legislator said that the party was unappreciative of its supporters, who were not just faithful but also deeply committed to it.
Nevertheless, the MP advocated for better treatment of the youth in future interactions but ruled out any chance of leaving the party.
“ODM Party, so many youth and myself sacrificed a lot and used our resources in the party over the years, our pay is betrayal and blackmail. It is fine. Tomorrow is another day,” Babu Owino remarked.
