Cab-hailing app Bolt suspends a driver registered to their app who was seen flashing his genitals while driving a female customer.
Bolt Kenya has announced the suspension of a driver who was captured in a video recording exposing his private part in the full glare of female passengers he was carrying on a trip.
In the now-viral video, the driver unzipped his pants when the lady immediately ordered him to stop the car and drop them off.
The lady asked the driver “Why are you undressing? Drop me there” then signaled her friend who was sitting in the backseat saying “Sally! Alight this man is naked.” She then ordered the driver “Drop me.”
While reacting to a concern shared by Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Bolt said the driver will not be allowed again to operate using their app.
“Bolt, as part of its zero tolerance to this type of behaviour, has suspended the mentioned driver from providing any further services on our platform,” Bolt said.
Sonko had raised concern over the incident revealing that the driver’s incident forced the ladies to alight midway.
“The driver, Moctor Indwasi of phone number 0790264422, as the request information revealed, was forced to drop the ladies midway at Ole Nguruone Road in Lavington when they noticed the indecent act he was performing on himself,” Sonko said.

The taxi-hailing app now says they are in the process of reaching out to the affected rider to handle the matter from the matter.
“We are also actively engaging with the affected rider, and once again take this opportunity to express our sincere concern and empathy over this unfortunate incident,” the Bolt Kenya stated.
“We remain committed to promptly addressing and continuously supporting our valued clients during such difficult moments.”
The situation has badly exposed the taxi-hailing app to public ridicule with concerned Kenyans asking female passengers to shun the app.
But despite the criticism, Bolt Kenya says the vial incident does not represent its policy.
“At Bolt, the safety of our drivers and passengers remains our highest priority. We remain committed to vigilance and swift response in handling such incidents,” he said.
