Boy, 12, dies after mother sets him on fire over Sh150 in Kisumu
A 12-year-old boy from Nyamgun area in Seme sub-county, Kisumu county has died after his mother reportedly set him on fire during an altercation over Sh150.
According to police reports, the boy, identified as BO succumbed to burn injuries on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Kombewa County Hospital.
He had sustained 90 per cent burns on his upper torso, hands, and groin area.
Police said the minor was rushed to the hospital on Monday night by neighbours who found him engulfed in flames and managed to extinguish the fire.

Detectives from Kombewa Police Station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Seme later visited the hospital and the scene of the incident, where they recovered a partially burnt blue T-shirt belonging to the victim.
Investigations revealed that the boy’s mother, 47, allegedly poured kerosene on him and set him ablaze after accusing him of stealing Sh150 from her.
Police described the deceased as a habitual petty thief, adding that the fatal confrontation began after a scuffle over the missing money.
The suspect was arrested and placed in custody at Kombewa Police Station.
She is expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been moved to the Kombewa County Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
