Central Kenya poll losers in the August general elections shifting loyalty to President William Ruto.

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition’s allies in Kiambu county have now pledged to back President William Ruto.

Speaking to the media in Kiambu town on December 15, 2022, the leaders, led by former Kiambu governor James Nyoro, congratulated Ruto on his victory on August 9 and promised support for his presidency.

“We acknowledge that it is now time to develop and transform this nation and especially our economy for the benefit of our people, We would like to congratulate Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua on their win during the August election…We are pledging our loyalty and support to the president, “Nyoro stated.

The politicians who fiercely opposed Ruto’s candidature in the central Kenya stated that they wanted to be included in the current government and reiterated that they will be loyal to the Head of State.

“We want to be included in the current government, we have been in the previous government, w worked with it and paid our loyalty, now that we have a new leadership w want to shift our loyalty to it,” Joyce Ngugi, the former Kiambu deputy governor stated.

The leaders further stated that they had not ditched their parties but were only shifting allegiance in support of the ruling government.
