Charlene Ruto launches a new youth empowerment initiative, just after she has been on the spotlight over the Office of the First Daughter.
President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto has offered to serve as a patron to encourage the youth of Murang’a County to take up coffee production.
Stephen Munania, the deputy governor of the county, declared on Friday, December 16, that he will work with Charlene to make sure the young people profit from the lucrative venture.
“H.E Charlene Ruto and I will be patrons of this demo farm where we will progressively engage youths from crop growth stage to harvesting.
“I will not relent until the young people have benefited from this project supported by all well-wishers,” the deputy governor announced.
Stephen Munania spoke at the Murang’a County Youth in Coffee Agribusiness Initiative launch at Ikundu Farm, Maragua Sub County.
“We are focused to be part of a government that is dedicated to promoting Agriculture and uplifting youths as well as sensitizing them to embrace new modern farming techniques,” he stated.

The deputy governor also said that they would routinely check on the project’s progress from various sub counties in various societies in their capacity as patrons.
“Murang’a County coffee has the potential to grow to a Ksh25 billion sector, this is the beginning of the Coffee Revitalization agenda that puts the youth at the center of growth,” the deputy governor announced.
According to the deputy governor, by June 2023, youths in coffee farming get Ksh100 per kilogram.
“This is the only way we can create jobs and wealth for our youth and future generations,” he declared.
Charlene has in recent weeks captured the nation’s attention with a series of highly publicized public engagements.
The events, local and abroad, have generated debate on social media about the role of the first daughter, considering that the children of the past four presidents rarely operated in the public limelight.
On November 24, the First Daughter met Narok county officials, including governor Patrick Ole Ntutu.
Speaking after the meeting Charlene conveyed her father’s message that calls on all citizens to own up tree-growing initiatives and plant 300 trees each in their respective farms in the next 5 years.
Apart from tree planting Charlene, who is a Director at the Weston Hotel on Lang’ata Road, said she is on a tour of counties to hold talks with leaders and Kenyans centred on tourism, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
Charlene also came under the spotlight on Wednesday after revealing that she runs the Office of the First Daughter, complete with members of staff.
She introduced the members of her team while addressing delegates at the 2022 YouLead Summit held in Arusha, Tanzania, on Tuesday, December 13.
