Chelsea fans need to show respect to players, Thomas Tuchel responds to ugly incident
Thomas Tuchel has asked Chelsea fans to show more respect to the players, responding to ugly incident witnesses against Tottenham.
While Thomas Tuchel looked pleased with his Chelsea players’ performance and the result in the derby against Tottenham, there was one aspect of the game that seemed to bother Tuchel.
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger was struck by missiles thrown by Tottenham supporters at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with Thomas Tuchel urging fans to “show respect.”
During Chelsea’s 2-0 triumph against their London rivals, Rudiger was struck by a lighter thrown from the away section.
Crowd disturbances were reported, and while the German stated that he enjoys having the fans near to the pitch, in full voice, and cheering his team on, he did request that they all respect the players.
During a previous match between the clubs in 2019, the German accused Tottenham fans of making racist gestures at him.

Chelsea was one of those teams in the 1980s who kept their supporters behind fences, and no one wants to go back to those terrible days.
Throwing objects onto the pitch, or even supporters encroaching on it, is a no-no, and Tuchel’s words may not fall on deaf ears.
