Chelsea transfer gossip: Chelsea targeting Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo

According to reports in Spain, Chelsea are close to meeting Barcelona’s valuation for Frenkie de Jong, and they’ve also held talks with Ronald Araujo’s representatives.

With their Premier League title hopes all but over following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Man City, Thomas Tuchel will be fully focused on this season’s goals.

The Blues hierarchy have already started planning for next season’s title assault.

Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and according to reports in Spain, a deal might be on the cards for the Dutchman, with speculation over his future at Camp Nou growing.

Chelsea are also rumored to be interested in defender Ronald Araujo, a former Barcelona player, as they prepare to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who are both out of contract in the summer.

De Jong

If the two clubs can agree on a cost, the signing of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong might be on the cards.

According to El Nacional, the two are £8 million apart in terms of the former Ajax star’s worth.

According to the report, Chelsea’s original offer of £33 million was turned down, with the Spanish giants valuing the Dutch playmaker at over £50 million.

However, given their financial difficulties, they are willing to accept a bid of around £41 million.

Defender Araujo

Ronald Araujo, a defender for Barcelona, is another player who could leave Spain for west London.

According to Sport, the Blues are one of many Premier League clubs interested in signing the 22-year-old.

Araujo’s contract expires in 2023, and while the two parties are currently in talks about extending it, no agreement has been reached.

Chelsea is said to have summoned the player to discuss a possible summer transfer as he approaches the end of his contract.

Kepa situation at Chelsea

Kepa is all set to stay at Stamford Bridge.

While Eduardo Mendy is representing Spain at the African Cup of Nations, the Spanish goalkeeper is filling in for him.

Despite being demoted to second-choice goalkeeper last season, Kepa is said to be pleased with his possibilities at Chelsea, according to Football.London, which cites an interview with DAZN.

Lazio are rumored to be interested in the 27-year-old goalkeeper, but his latest statements appear to put an end to any thoughts of a January move.
