Digital strategist Denis Itumbi has opposed the arrest and charging of Nuru Okanga for allegedly insulting President William Ruto. 

In an update via his X handle on Thursday, November 30, Itumbi cautioned people behind Okanga’s arrest to desist from repeating the move and even offered to help with his representation. 

“I completely disagree with the idea of arresting bloggers for insulting the president. Whoever is doing it wacheni kabisa. Please wakili W Kinuthiah, if Nuru Okanga agrees represent him in court at my cost,” said Itumbi.

Itumbi pointed out that President Ruto is not interested in people who insulting him adding that the Head of State has serious work he is focusing on.

“There actually exists a right to offend, shock, or disturb. I know for a fact that President William Ruto has serious stuff to do and is not interested in such drama and arrests, he does not even know about it. So who exactly is the complainant? Wachaneni na bloggers, wajiexpress! Tafuteni kazi ingine,” Itumbi added.

The response by Itumbi comes after Okanga on Thursday appeared before Mlimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina and was charged with uttering unprintable words on President Ruto.

However, Nuru Okanga was released on a cash bail of Ksh 10,000.
