There was drama at Shianda Market after Mumias East MP Peter Salasya stormed a rally that Rashid Echesa was addressing.
In the incident captured on video and shared online on Monday, March 10, Salasya was filmed arriving at the rally in his car as Echesa addressed the residents on the progress being made by President William Ruto in the sugar sector.
Salasya was even filmed waving his hands to signal the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health board chairperson to stop speaking.
Following the incident, Echesa accused the MP of disrespecting him, maintaining that he had the right to give his views on what the government was doing in the sugar sector.
At some point, the MP attempted to climb Echesa’s vehicles, prompting the former Sports CS to warn him.

“Don’t even try to climb my vehicle; don’t try me,” the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health board chairperson stated.
“I sat in the Cabinet of Kenya, my friend. You will have to respect me. I am not somebody who can be intimidated. Tell your MP that he cannot intimidate me. Therefore, I will speak about Mumias Sugar company.”
On his part, Salasya accused the former CS of inciting the residents against the developments being done in the sugar sector.
“It is just that I did not know (about the rally). I was only passing. He even feared to get out of the vehicle,” Salasya wrote.
