Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) denies media reports of raided Siaya Governor James Orengo home.
In a post via its X handle on Friday, January 5, EACC flagged a poster doing rounds on social media claiming, the commission raided Orengo’s home in Ugenya.
The clarification follows the announcement made by Eric Ngumbi, a spokesman for the EACC, that the commission is looking into allegations of financial embezzlement by governors and top county officials from more than 35 counties utilizing proxies.
Ngumbi claimed that certain authorities are pilfering public funds from the devolved units by means of interns.

“The commission is actively investigating senior officials in the counties including governors in over 35 county governments on matters related to embezzlement and one of the prominent methods that people are using to steal from the public is through vicious tricks,” said Ngumbi.
He added, “Some are going even to the extent of using interns and young people om attachment to open proxy companies that are later used to steal public funds.”
EACC detectives on Friday arrested Vihiga County Chief Officer for Education, Science & Technical and Vocational Training Noel Malanda in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation.
The detectives discovered and seized Sh 400,000 from Malanda’s office.
