EPL Title Race; £15m Grealish clause Putting Aston Villa in Hard Place; To Hand Liverpool Title Or Money if City Wins.
Micah Richards claims £15m Grealish clause could see Villa throw City game in EPL title race with LFC
Micah Richards claimed on talkSPORT that a clause in Jack Grealish’s contract will prevent Liverpool from winning the Premier League.
Manchester City are in control of their destiny with 90 points to Liverpool’s 89, but Pep Guardiola’s team will have a difficult test against Aston Villa.
Villa would normally not be given much hope of beating the Blues but with Steven Gerrard their manager, they will have a unique motivation to beat City.
Now both have the chance to do their former side a massive favour but if Micah Richards is to be believed, Aston Villa won’t want Liverpool to win the league due to a clause in Jack Grealish’s contract.
Man United senior management unhappy with ‘poisonous’ player targeting Harry Maguire
Jack Grealish moved to the Etihad last summer for a record-setting £100million fee after City triggered his release clause but he hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire since joining the champions.
He has just 6 goals and 4 assists this season.
According to Micah Richards, if Manchester City win the 2022 Premier League title race, Aston Villa will receive £15million as a bonus due to a clause in Jack Grealish’s contract.
He told talkSPORT: “Steven Gerrard would like to win the league for Liverpool on Sunday but Villa has a clause in [the] Jack Grealish deal that could land them an extra £15 million if City wins the league and in this business, money comes first.”
The former City defender is insinuating that Villa will want to throw the game in order to allow City to win the league so they can cash in on the £15m Grealish clause.
