Former ODM MP and Assistant Minister is dead

Former Trade Assistant Minister and ex-Bomachoge Member of Parliament (MP) Simon Ogari has died

Former Trade Assistant Minister and ex-Bomachoge Member of Parliament (MP) Simon Ogari has died.

Ogari passed away at his Karen home in Nairobi on Tuesday morning, September 10, at the age of 68 after a long illness.

The deceased former MP served in the 10th and 11th parliaments. He was a member of the ODM party.

Ogari served as an assistant minister for Trade in 2010 in the grand coalition government before serving as the Information & Communication assistant minister between 2012 and 2013.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka eulogised the former lawmaker as a polite, kind and selfless man who he says he will miss in his death.

“I served with Hon. Simon Ogari in the 10th and 11th Parliaments. He was a polite, kind and selfless man who was simple to a fault. My heart goes to the family, the people of Bomachoge and Kisii County as a whole,” Onyonka stated.

The senator remarked that the deceased lawmaker’s legacy will remain as a guiding example

“His legacy of dedicated service to the people of Bomachoge in the 10th and Bomachoge Chache in the 11th Parliaments will remain as a guiding example for all of us in leadership,” Onyonka added.

Nominated senator Esther Okenyuri mourned Ogari as a remarkable leader who served his constituents with commitment.

“He was a remarkable leader who served his constituents with commitment and dedication. He touched many hearts throughout his life leading with profound humility. His legacy will remain with us for a long time to come. It has been my honour and good fortune to have known him,” she stated.
