Gachagua removes ‘Deputy President’ title from his X, Facebook accounts
Rigathi Gachagua has now removed the ‘Deputy President’ title from his official social media bio hours after Prof. Kithure Kindiki was sworn in as his successor.
Gachagua had changed his X (formerly Twitter) bio profile which initially read, “Husband. Father. Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya” to just “Husband. Father. Kenyan.”
The former deputy president also changed his Facebook and X cover photos, from a photo of himself, Pastor Dorcas, President William Ruto and First Lady Rachell Ruto kneeling together after their swearing-in ceremony in 2022, to just one of himself lifting his hands up facing Mt. Kenya as if in prayer.
The developments came moments after the former DP broke his silence following the Friday morning swearing-in ceremony held at KICC, Nairobi.
Gachagua took to his social media platforms to post a photo of himself and his family – wife Pastor Dorcas and two children – while sitting on the grass at his compound presumably in his Central Kenya home.

He expressed his gratitude to God for family, adding that he’s looking forward to taking his usual morning walks through Hombe Forest.
“Home Sweet Home! Thanking God for the gift of my family. The smell of fresh grass and the sounds of chirping birds is what a happy family needs. I will remain forever grateful to God, for giving me a loving and supportive family,” he wrote.
“We are happy to be home, where I was born and brought up! I can’t wait for the morning to take my walk in Hombe Forest, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt Kenya as I thank God for His kindness. God Bless Kenya.”
Pastor Dorcas also posted the same photo to her social media platforms, accompanied by two Bible verses, as she noted that her family is still grateful to God regardless of the present circumstances.
