German Embassy temporarily stops application and issuance of visas

The German Embassy in Nairobi has temporarily stopped all visa and consular services

The German Embassy in Nairobi has temporarily stopped all visa and consular services.

In an update on Wednesday, October 2, on X, the embassy said a power outage and backup failure led to the disruption of services.

The embassy said they are in communication with applicants with imminent travel plans, adding that they are working round-the-clock to resolve the issue.

“A power outage and backup failure have severely impacted the IT systems of our consular and visa section. As of now, you can’t issue any visa. No applications can be processed.

“We are calling applicants with imminent travel plans. We are working hard to resolve the issue ASAP,” the embassy said in a statement.

This comes about two weeks after Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu encouraged Kenyans to apply for jobs in Germany after a labour agreement with Kenya.

The PS on Wednesday, September 18, noted that interested Kenyans can access the jobs by visiting, https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/ or https://www.deutschland.de/de/arbeiten-in-deutschland.

Njogu disclosed that, under the labor agreement, the Kenyan government addressed issues such as the recognition of Kenyan skills, accreditation of Kenyan professionals, and validation of Kenyan certificates.

She added that the agreement was the first of its kind, maintaining that it creates a framework for the diaspora jobs in Germany.

“What the comprehensive migration and mobility partnership agreement does is create a framework for those diaspora jobs in Germany. It’s a first-of-its-kind agreement.

“Why work in Germany? Because you get to find a good job, a good wage or salary, and new experiences. But we are looking at it in terms of skills and technology transfer,” she explained.
