IEBC CEO informs the dialogue committee that they're ready to open servers used in 2022 presidential election for audit

IEBC CEO informs the dialogue committee that they’re ready to open servers used in 2022 presidential election for audit.

The Independent Electoral And Boundaries Commission (IEBC) team led by CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan on Friday agreed to open the servers used in the 2022 general election.

Speaking while appearing before the National Dialogue Committee (NDCO), IEBC ICT director Michael Ouma said that the servers were available for forensic audit by the independent auditors.

“I want to say that the servers are available for forensic audit, yes I confirm, any time, and that they were used to process the exact replica of the physical forms that are available,” he revealed.

The IEBC made the affirmation after the National Dialogue Committee team sought to know on what grounds the agency would be compelled to open the servers.

“I have heard people say open the server, under what circumstances would you open the server, is there a legal framework allowing that to happen or not,” Cecily Mbarire posed.

The election commission noted that it was confident in the authenticity of the figures available on the servers, noting that the figures on the servers are the same as those on the physical forms.

“The role of the server on the other side, I wish to clarify, was nothing more than taking a replica of that physical form and availing it to the portal,” added the ICT director.

“We are confident, even now if an audit is to be done you will now be seeing those forms and the servers used to process them, and confirm if those images of the forms we have the 46,2001of them are the exact replica as one signed in the polling stations.”

This comes even as Kenya Kwanza and Azimio continue to wrangle over the opening of the servers used to conduct the 2022 general elections.

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, has repeatedly called for the servers to be opened for inspection and accused the IEBC of electoral fraud.

The server’s issue began following the announcement of the presidential election results, following the bitter fallout between the IEBC Commissioners in the Bomas of Kenya.
