Fred Matiangi has reshuffled eight county commissioners under unclear circumstances coming only two weeks after the August 9, general elections.
The reshuffling comes amid an onslaught from President-Elect William Ruto’s allies.
A section of Kenya Kwanza leaders have launched scathing attacks on state officials they believe interfered with the polls.
Kapserek MP Oscar Sudi this week warned the Uasin Gishu county commissioner, Stephen Kihara to resign from his position or face the sack.
“Wewe county commissioner unajua ulitenganisha watu wetu hapa na fitina mingi, sisi tumekusamehe but you must resign in this government hatuwezi tukakubali hiyo maneno,” he said.
The county commissioners affected are those who had been accused in the run-up to the August polls of being behind a scheme to intimidate voters and stir chaos in the Rift valley.
They are Samson Ojwang from Trans-Nzoia, Stephen Kihara from Uasin Gishu, and Erastus Mbui from Nakuru County.
“The officers should be released to report to their new stations immediately,” read the notice from the Ministry of Interior and coordination of the national government.
In the changes, Mbui will head to Kitui, Kihara to Embu as Ojwang relocates to Busia.
Bomet’s Beverly Opwora who is just a few months old in the county has been affected and will head to Makueni and be replaced by Ahmed Omar Ahmed from Busia.
Mathias Rioba who is currently stationed in Kitui is set to assume his roles in Trans-Nzoia as Eddyson Nyale moves to Uasin Gishu.
Gilbert Kitiyo becomes the new Nakuru county commissioner.
