Former Presidential Aspirant Jimi Wanjigi on Monday revealed that he was arrested by detectives at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a statement, the businessman termed his arrest illegal and accused the law enforcement agencies of breaching court orders in effecting his detention.

Wanjigi had earlier presented himself at the DCI headquarters in connection with the Nane Nane protests as per the police order.

“The DCI have illegally arrested me despite numerous court orders barring the same arrest,” the businessman shared.

In an earlier video that went viral on the internet, the businessman was seen confronting police officers after arriving at DCI headquarters.

In the video, he is ordered to board a car which he adamantly refused to enter but eventually hops onto it. “Do not order me, do not touch me!” he was heard shouting.

On August 8, the businessman found himself rubbing shoulders the wrong way with the law enforcement agencies who criticized him of funding the Nane Nane protests.

Immediately after the raid on his home, Wanjigi came out and condemned the raid as illegal and as an attempt to cow him.

The businessman turned activist has on many occasions on local media outlets lashed out at Ruto’s administration for leading the country into a dangerous path of debt.

Earlier he had intimated that that if police wanted him they should summon him instead of raiding his home which said has caused undue trauma to her family.

Wanjigi has vowed to call out the government for its imprudence and reckless loan-taking spree that the says is unconstitutional.
