Rachel Ruto recounts praying for childless woman who later gave birth to twins
First Lady Rachel Ruto has recounted how a woman she prayed for during a meeting in Bungoma years ago later gave birth to twins after struggling with childlessness.
Speaking during the Women’s Convocation held ahead of the National Prayer Breakfast, Mama Rachel said the woman approached her during the Easter holidays while she was visiting her village.
The First Lady said the woman reminded her of a 2012 women’s economic empowerment meeting in Bungoma where she had prayed for women who were unable to have children.
According to the First Lady, the woman narrated how she responded to a prayer call during the meeting and later conceived.
“She told me in 2012, I was crying. I was childless. They had laughed at me. She said, ‘I came in front, you prayed for me. And look, God blessed me with twins,’” Rachel said, adding that the woman was with her twin girls when they met.
Rachel said she could barely remember the encounter, noting that people sometimes impact others’ lives without realising it.

Addressing women attending the convocation, the First Lady urged Kenyans to continue praying for families, young people and the nation.
“Let’s pray for our young people, our children, those that have given up. Let’s pray for those that have not yet been blessed with the fruit of the womb,” she said.
The meeting was held under the theme “Forgiveness and Reconciliation” ahead of the National Prayer Breakfast.
Rachel also called for unity, peace and reconciliation, saying prayer remained important in shaping the country’s future.
Quoting author Napoleon Hill, she said: “Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
She further cited Matthew 5:9, saying: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
