Nominated MP John Mbadi calls out Kalonzo and Uhuru as rift in Azimio widens amid calls for dialogue with President Ruto.
Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi has yet again ignited the storm in Azimio la Umoja by dragging in former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kalonzo Musyoka.
His statement came after Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga debunked reports of splits in Azimio, Mbadi has come out to call out some of the coalition leaders.
Speaking on Sunday, July 21, 2024, Mbadi called out Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who he insisted was not taking the coalition anywhere.
Kalonzo had suggested that the country would adopt a transitional government if Ruto agreed to step down.
Mbadi castigated the Wiper Party leader for playing populism politics at the expense of the country’s greater good.
“We cannot follow Kalonzo because we do not know where he going. I am not persuaded that Kalonzo is taking us anywhere,” Mbadi stated.
At the same time, the ODM Party chairperson pointed an accusing finger at the former President Uhuru whom he accused of misleading some Azimio members.
Mbadi argued that Uhuru does not have the powers to help determine the country’s leadership at the moment.
“I am not persuaded that Uhuru means well for us now. If he wanted to give us leadership, he would have given us leadership in 2022. Some of us today would be cabinet ministers I would not be a nominated member of parliament,” Mbadi insisted.
Siaya Governor James Orengo was also not spared in Mbadi’s rant. The lawmaker argued that dialogue is the only right way to address the issues bedeviling the country.

While asking the Governor to drop his hard stance, he noted that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will automatically take over the leadership mantle whom he said was not a better replacement.
“I am in total disagreement with James Aggrey Orengo. He is my senior and my friend but where he is wrong, I will tell him, he is wrong,” Mbadi stated.
“You cannot tell us that we cannot dialogue, that we cannot talk with Ruto and that we cannot talk as Kenyans. What is the alternative?
“We are not playing politics of populism, We cannot play politics of theory,” Mbadi stated.
This comes even as Azimio leaders continue to read from different scripts over the proposed dialogue and broad-based cabinet as fronted by President Ruto.
Earlier, Raila announced that Azimio would only agree to dialogue if the Kenya Kwanza regime meets the stipulated demands.
