Former Gender CS Aisha Jumwa heckled in Kilifi while rallying for cabinet reappointment.

Aisha Jumwa was on Saturday heckled while addressing a gathering in her hometown Kilifi.

The former Gender Cabinet Secretary while addressing a crowd in Kilifi County remarked that President William Ruto was aware of her capabilities and could reappoint her in the cabinet.

After making the request to be reinstated as CS, rowdy youth started booing and chanting that the President should reject the request.

“William Ruto does not need to campaign for Aisha Jumwa, he knows her and if it pleases him, he will say that Aisha Jumwa should continue being part of the cabinet,” the former CS referred herself in the third person.

“If he says Aisha Jumwa to continue, in Kilifi we will say Amen and if he says Aisha Jumwa should rest we will also say Amen.”

Aisha Jumwa remarked that this was borne out of a Christian upbringing that asks people to show gratitude always.

While she had hopes of being part of the Executive, the majority of the crowd did not bear the same sentiments.

Local leaders who had accompanied the former CS were seen frantically begging the rowdy crowd to stop the chants and boos.

The hostile crowd did not heed the request and continued heckling making it impossible for the former Gender CS to make her speech.

Her first public appearance came two days after President William Ruto reinstated four of the dismissed cabinet secretaries.

They included; Kithure Kindiki (Interior Security), Aden Duale (Defence), Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), and Alice Wahome (Lands).

Former Trade CS Rebecca Miano returned to the Cabinet as the nation’s first female Attorney General.
