Teachers’ union rejects Ruto’s cabinet nominee for Education, Julius Migos
Teachers’ union Knut rejects President William Ruto’s cabinet nominee for Education, Julius Migos.
The Kenya national Union of Teachers(Knut) has opposed the nomination of Julius Migos Ogamba as the CS for Education, arguing that the sector needed an educationist.
Migos is a lawyer by profession and Knut officials led by second national vice chairman Agrrey Namisi argue that he may not have the necessary background to run the ministry which currently has many challenges.
“We have no problem with the nominee as a person but we feel the education sector needed someone with a clear background in the sector who would not need orientation,” Namisi said.

Namisi spoke in Eldoret on Saturday where he attended an AGM for the Knut Chepkoilel branch. He was with branch officials led by executive secretary Sammy Bor.
Namisi said the sector needed a CS who would quickly fit and drive the required transformation. He said the implementation of the CBC was at a critical stage and required a CS who had the necessary know-how of the sector.
He said already the Kenya Kwanza administration had done half of its term and with two years to go, a CS who is not an educationist will take time to settle in the docket.
The Knut officials have at the same time praised the government’s commitment to employ intern teachers on permanent terms.
