Kinya, is hinging her impeachment motion on three grounds.

These include; alleged gross violation of the Constitution, alleged gross violation of various national and county laws, and alleged abuse of office.

“Public petitions have been presented to the county assembly including petition No. 5 of 2023 brought by 1,611 members of the public and statements have been sought by the members of the county assembly on the various gross violations and instances of abuse of office by the governor and recommendations made by the county assembly on the various gross violations,” the MCA stated while tabling the motion.

Kinya further noted that only an impeachment motion would save the County Assembly from the political turmoil the devolved unit has experienced for the past two years since the general election.

The MCA stated that the governor’s continued stay in office has hampered the efficient delivery of services to the people of Meru County.
