The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested the late Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were’s driver and bodyguard.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested the late Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Were’s driver and bodyguard.
The two were arrested on Tuesday, May 6 night and are being treated as persons of interest in the investigation of the murder of Were.
Were’s driver and bodyguard are being grilled after giving conflicting statements about the events before and after the shooting of the MP.
The two who are in police custody were not injured when Were was fatally shot along Ngong Road on March 30.
Four other suspects are already in custody in connection with the murder of the Kasipul lawmaker.
The suspects were on Monday presented before the JKIA Court, where investigators secured a 30-day custodial order to facilitate further investigations.
At the same time, detectives have recovered two pistols, one of which they believe was used in the deadly attack.

The two pistols were found in a house in the Chokaa area of Kayole, Nairobi, following a police operation. The pistols are set to undergo ballistic analysis to determine ownership and usage.
The DCI officers also recovered a bag and shoes believed to have been worn by the prime suspect on the day the MP was murdered.
An autopsy conducted by Johansen Oduor, the Chief Government Pathologist, revealed that Were was shot five times, with the bullets entering from the left side of his body.
Oduor expressed that the MP could not have survived the gun attack, given that integral body organs such as the heart were affected.
“We have taken samples for analysis. Further to that, we have found injuries in the vital organs. There was bullet track on the lungs, the heart, the liver, and the aorta.
“This means that the late MP could not survive the injuries caused by the gunshot,” Oduor revealed.
