Kivutha to Kalonzo; Welcome to Azimio La Umoja, but respect the early AZIMIO Birds
2 min readKivutha Kibwana, the Makueni governor, has welcomed the One Kenya Alliance leaders to the Azimio la Umoja movement.
The Azimio la Umoja movement was led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
The governor Kivutha announced in a statement on Sunday that Oka leaders Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper Party and Gideon Moi of the KANU are free to join Azimio la Umoja.
He warned the leaders, however, to be mindful of early adopters who have backed the Azimio movement from the start.
“As Chairperson of the South Eastern Economic Bloc (SEKEB), and my two governor colleagues Dr. Alfred Mutua, Charity Kaluki Ngilu, and the Ukambani people, we welcome OKA into AZIMIO.
“The grand vision is genuine unity to save and prosper Kenya, not to share positions. Let the new entrants honour the Early AZIMIO Birds,” he said.
After ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula abandoned the group and joined deputy president William Ruto’s camp, reports of OKA leaders striking an agreement with Raila’s Azimio have been circulating.
Kalonzo, on the other hand, has maintained that he is a presidential contender in the running.
