Luo leaders defend Raila Odinga following attacks from a section of Nyanza politicians “We’ll Go Head On”

A group of politicians allied with Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has come out to defend him against an onslaught from his Luo Nyanza region’s disgruntled leaders.

During a press conference on Tuesday, December 13, nominated county assembly members warned against continuing personal attacks on Raila and his family.

“Luos from Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori, come out. A woman can not be abused by a man and you are quiet. Ida is not a commissioner and there was no time she issued certificates” said Catherine Okoth.

The leaders urged those opposed to Raila’s leadership to find their own political path without dragging the Odinga’s along with them.

“The Luo nation is also not for sale to please your bosses as you slander them. Find your own path without dragging His Excellency Raila Amollo Odinga, his family and the Luo Nation at large,” said Papechua Mkunjira.

The Luo leaders warned the politicians who were abusing the former premier to stop, adding that no one can predict the future.

They claimed that one day the people would be at a crossroads and that only Raila would be able to save them.

“One day you’ll return to that house. You don’t know what tomorrow holds because Raila would be the one to save your life one day,” added Catherine.

Their statement comes after Mama Ida Odinga accused a section of leaders from his Nyanza backyard of betrayal.

Ida alleged that there were schemes by some politicians from the Nyanza region to fight the Odinga family.

She lashed out at the politicians stating that they used to frequent his home and offices but were now out to attack the ODM leader.

“The same politicians would wake up and come to my home for breakfast, lunch, and supper and spend the whole day at my office. They are now insulting members of my family, forgetting they used to frequent my home, pretending to be close to the family,” said Ida.
