Maendeleo Chap Chap Members decamp to Azimio, faulting Alfred Mutua for selfish interests
Maendeleo Chap Chap Members ( Mutua’s party) decamp to Azimio, faulting Alfred Mutua for selfish interests.
A section of Maendeleo Chap Chap members have ditched Kenya Kwanza to the Azimio coalition in support of Raila Odinga’s presidency.
The party members claimed that their leader Alfred Mutua joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance without their blessings.
During Raila’s political rally in Makueni yesterday, Party’s Kibwezi West parliamentary aspirant Mwengi Mutuse said a majority of party members remained in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party and will support Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
Mwengi Mutuse is one of Mutua’s close allies and said that the Machakos governor moved to the Deputy President William Ruto-led coalition without the blessings of the majority party members.
Mutuse was Mutua’s chief of staff.
“Some of us are the founders of the Maendeleo Chap Chap party. And for us who are seeking elective seats under the party support Raila to be the fifth president,” Mutuse said during an Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party rally.
His remarks were held by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
“We used to walk and work together with our friend and colleague, the governor of Machakos, without knowing that he is a liar. One of his legs was in Azimio while the other one was in Kenya Kwanza,” said Ngilu.
